Why did we build BNSMS?
Texting hasn’t changed much since 1992. SS7, the signaling protocol still routing SMS messages across most of the world, was never built with modern security in mind, and it shows. Messages sent in plain text, readable by anyone in the right position on the network, are not a new problem. It’s just one nobody’s fixed.
RCS was supposed to be the fix. It’s been around since 2008. Some carriers still haven’t turned it on. Even where it exists, RCS depends on both people having the right app, the right device, and a carrier that’s bothered to support it, and in much of the world1, that’s mostly a Google Messages story, not a network-wide one. iPhone to Android, iPhone to iPhone with iMessage off, Android without RCS enabled, most everyday texting is still exactly as exposed as it was three decades ago.
So we built something else.
BNSMS is BootyNet’s answer: encrypted texting that doesn’t depend on your contact’s phone, app, or settings. Built on the same security architecture behind BootyPay and BootyNet Zero Trust™, it closes the gap RCS never quite got around to closing.
